My team and I attended the annual Khalsa Day Parade at Nathan Phillips Square. With an estimated 80,000-100,000 people marching in this year's parade, the event has become one of the largest celebrations in Toronto, marking the establishment of the Khalsa (one of the most important parts of the Sikh faith).

It was a pleasure to host this year's Vaisakhi on the Hill celebration at the Government Conference Centre in Ottawa. We celebrated with traditional food, music and dancing, joined by my a number of my caucus colleagues, including Prime Minister Harper, as well as Ministers MacKay, Uppal & Kenney.

I had the pleasure to appear in front of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights to speak regarding my Private Member's Bill C-394 this week. This was the first of 3 days of hearings that will prepare recomendations regarding my Bill, before it returns to the House of Commons for further debate and a vote at 3rd Reading.

On Saturday, Feb 9th, Attended the "Have A Heart" fundraiser for The Amar Karma Organ Donation Society. I was proud to attend in support of such a worthy organization, that has pledged to create awareness in imperative need of organ donation to ensure that organs for transplant will be available to those who are on a large waiting list to receive a call from 'life'.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs in Canada. Last year, the run raised over $30 Million nationwide.

What made this event even more special was the announcement by Mayor Susan Fennell that our city was to be re-designated as an International Safe Community by the WHO for our commitment to safety in the community!

I took a tour of the Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre. As you know, my Annual Community BBQ raised over $1600 dollars for this amazing organization & it is a privilege to see it go to such a worthy group who help women & children escape domestic abuse and move on to a better life.
